Duratrans.com was created by the large format display industry professionals at Blue River Digital Inc., in response to the growing need for education and information on Kodak Duratrans®-related products and processes. As with many brand names that, over time, culturally evolve into generic product identifiers (e.g. “Levis” or “Thermos”), much confusion exists as to which of the many large format color backlit graphics display products and processes officially “qualify” as genuine Duratrans and those that don’t, and what the differences are. It is the intent of this website to give credit and deference to Eastman Kodak Co. for their pioneering innovation and quality inherent in the original Professional Duratrans Display Material, and also to explain why Duratrans remains the de facto industry standard for large format translucent display graphics, and to provide practical applications of the Duratrans backlit display product.
